Good DEEDS& be Grateful

‎#Three Lasting Good Deeds

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); knowledge which is beneficial; or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (the deceased).” [Sahih Muslim] ♥♥

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

❝Sins generate more sins, and one leads to another, until they overpower a man and he finds it difficult to repent from that.❞
As one of the earlier generation said: One of the punishments of bad deeds is more bad deeds, and one of the rewards of good deeds is more good deeds.

[Al-Jawaab al-Kaafi (p. 36)]

PURIFYING THE HEART

Ibn al-Qayyim - rahimahullah- said: "There is no doubt that the heart becomes covered with rust, just as metal dishes - silver, and their like - become rusty. So the rust of the heart is polished with dhikr (remembrance of Allah), for dhikr polishes the heart until it becomes like a shiny mirror. However, when dhikr is abandoned, the rust returns; and when it commences then the heart again begins to be cleansed. Thus the heart becoming rusty is due to two matters: sins and ahafah (neglecting remembrance of Allah). Likewise, it is cleansed and polished by two things: istighfar (seeking Allah's forgiveness) and dhikr."

Whenever Allah gives a blessing to a servant, and then Allah takes it away from the servant, and the servant patiently endures his loss, then Allah rewards the Servant with a blessing which is better than the one Allah took away. [Omar bin Abdul Azeez]"

►Charity on behalf of the deceased:

Narrated Abu Hurairah: A person said to Allaah's Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم: “My father died and left behind property without making any will regarding it. Would he be relieved of the burden of his sins if I give Sadaqah on his behalf?” He (the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: "Yes." [Saheeh Muslim (3089) and Sunan Ibn Maajah (2708)]

Narrated 'Aishah: A man said to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, "My mother died suddenly, and I think that if she could speak, she would have given in charity. May I give in charity on her behalf?" He said, "Yes! Give in charity on her behalf." [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (1388, 2760) and Saheeh Muslim (1678, 3090)]

Narrated Sa`d bin `Ubadah: I said to the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم, "My mother died, can I give charity on her behalf?" The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Yes." So I said, "Which charity is best." The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Providing water (to the thirsty and the way-farer)." [Musnad Imaam Ahmad and al-Nasa`i, and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee in Saheeh Sunan al-Nasa’i (3664, 3665, 3666)]

Narrated Ibn Abbas: That the mother of Sa'd bin 'Ubada the brother of Bani Sa'ida died in Sa'd's absence, so he came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم saying, "O Allaah's Messenger! My mother died in my absence; will it benefit her if I give in charity on her behalf?" The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Yes." Sa'd said, "I take you as my witness that I give my garden Al-Makhraf in charity on her behalf." [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (2756, 2762)]

► ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Abbaas said: “Good deeds make the face light, give light to the heart, and bring about ample provision, physical strength and love in people’s hearts. Bad deeds make the face dark, give darkness to the heart, and bring about physical weakness, a lack of provision and hatred in people’s hearts.”

“If you are driven by your enemies to succeed, you have already lost. If you are driven by your critics to succeed, you will never please them. If you are driven by your friends to succeed, you will lose many on the way. If you are driven to be your best, you will never see your best

But, if you are driven to successfully meet your Lord, your enemies will end up respecting you, your critics loving you, your friends close to you, and you yourself no longer concerned of your self. Only then you will Succeed, and may you find Success.”

Imam Afroz Ali

►Ibn Rajab (rahimahullaah):

A sign that your good deed has been accepted is that you do more good deeds after it.

[Lataaif p. 93]

The Prophet Muhammad (s) said: “Be kind, for whenever kindness becomes part of something, it beautifies it. Whenever it is taken from something, it leaves it tarnished.“

——— Imam Bukhari’s Book of Muslim Manners.

►The Prophet Muhammad (Salla-Allahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam) said: “Every act of goodness is sadqa.

- Bukhari & Muslim

“Therefore remember Me, I will remember you, And be thankful to Me, and do not be ungrateful to Me.” [2:152]

“And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, ‘If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe’.” (14:7)

“And He gives you all that you ask for. But if you count the favors of Lord, never will you be able to number them. Verily, man is given up to injustice and ingratitude.” [14:34]

“Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful.” [76:3]

“What would Lord do with your punishment if you are grateful and believe?” (4:147)

“…And if you are grateful, He approves it for you…” (39:7)

“…And whoever is grateful is grateful for [the benefit of] himself. And whoever denies [His favor] – then indeed, Lord is Free of need and Praiseworthy.” (31:12)
