wiNter...rooster

Winter....

Ibn Rajab (rahimahullaah) said:

"The winter is the believers spring, where he walks around in the garden of obedience. The days are short and cold so that one can fast easily and the nights are long so that one can sleep well and pray the night prayer as well." ♥

(Lata'if-ul-Ma'arif, p. 435)

Roosters See Angels

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “If you hear the crowing of the rooster, then ask Allah of His Bounty, for it has seen an angel. And if you hear the braying of a donkey, then seek refuge with Allah from the Shaytaan, for it has seen a devil.” [Bukhari]

Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) loves being asked and though we are entirely dependent on him we tend to forget in the busy routine of living to make Duas. Thus, the rooster’s crow can function as a reminder for us to specially ask Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) for His continued favours; and the braying of donkeys and barking of dogs can be our alarm clocks to wake us up to seeking Allah’s protection.

The heart becomes sick, as the body becomes sick, and its remedy is at-tawbah and protection [from transgression]. It becomes rusty as a mirror becomes rusty, and its clarity is obtained by remembrance. It becomes naked as the body becomes naked, and its beautification is at-taqwa. It becomes hungry and thirsty as the body becomes hungry and thirst, and its food and drink are knowledge, love, dependence, repentance and servitude.

— Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah) [Diseases of the Heart and their Cures]

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Iman has sixty odd or seventy odd branches. The uppermost of all these is the Testimony of Faith: 'La ilaha illallah' (there is no true god except Allah) while the least of them is the removal of harmful object from the road. And shyness is a branch of Iman."

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
