Slip of Tongue

"No one conceals something in his heart, but Allah causes it to be seen on his face or in a slip of the tongue."

- Uthman ibn Affan (r.a)

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying:

Avoid suspicion, for suspicion is the gravest lie in talk and do not be inquisitive about one another and do not spy upon one another and do not feel envy with the other, and nurse no malice, and nurse no aversion and hostility against one another. And be fellow brothers and servants of Allah.

Muslim Book 9: Hadith 3526

Abdullah ibn Masood, may Allah be pleased with him:

“Speech by itself is worthless, unless it is followed by action. Speech and action by themselves are worthless, unless they have the right intention. And speech, action, and the right intention are worthless unless they agree with the Sunnah.”

[Jaami’ al-Uloom, p. 70]
